My Now & Forever by HJ Bellus
Star Review - 5 Stars
- Blurb - Whose parents abandon them in a trashy trailer when they are five years old? Oh Yeah! Mine do!
Hey Hoochies! I'm Milly, and I am tired of taking kicks to the gut. A broken family, an asshole husband and the loss of loved ones have left me crying Uncle, and declaring a serious case of the Fuck-Its!
I had my heart broken, stomped on and shattered before I ever started on my journey to find my little piece of happiness. With a bucket list, a '66 Ford and wild dreams, I set out on an adventure that changed my life forever. Follow me on my journey that resurrected my inner badass.
I found my soul sista from another mista, and opened my dream shop along the way. Just when I gave up on finding true love, a pirate and a princess swept me off my ever lovin' feet and filled my world with sprinkles, mac n’ cheese and the courage to live again. They forced my fragile heart to trust and love without fear.
Truth is, nobody’s past stays hidden forever. It’s an invisible monster waiting to attack and destroy. It has the capability to ruin everything you’ve worked to set right. All it takes is one final blow to the gut to end everything.- Synopsis/Review -My Now & Forever had me hooked with the first page. The beginning was so heart wrenching. The book evolves into a great story of Milly, who has had a shitty life growing up with shitty parents (if you can even call them that), a bastard cheating husband and family loss along the way. “By the way, I am Milly (Amelia Ladore Monroe), a self-proclaimed bad-ass who conquers the world by buying an old truck and looking for a hot lay in an elevator. I wasn't born a bad-ass but rather transformed into one through the many painful, cherished, and happy-happy events.” After everything Milly has been through she makes a “bucket list thingy” and sets off to Colorado. There she opens “the Shop” where she meets Lacey, her sister from another mister and the become BFF’s. When she was least expecting it the amazing Cree entered her life along with his daughter, Annie.
“Oh god Cree, I love you- please don’t break my heart. I've fallen so hard for you” Cree oh amazing, swoon worthy Cree…What can I say? I loved him. He was always such a gentleman to Milly, He is a great father to Annie, hard-worker...the list could go on forever. They definitely belong together.. While I love Milly and Cree, my favorite characters to read were Milly and Annie. The relationship that they develops is like no other. Annie is what helps MIlly grow alot throughout the book. “To my family that I never had, but always dreamed of, I love you now and forever hookers!” I truly enjoyed everything about this book. It took me on an emotional roller-coaster I laughed out loud more than I ever have, heck there were times when I was crying. I would recommend this book to anyone and can’t say enough how much I really enjoyed it!!! It's definitely worth reading and I can not wait to see more books from HJ Bellus.

The Opportunist by Tarryn Fisher
Star Review - 4 Stars-Blurb-Olivia Kaspen is a sharp tongued manipulator used to always getting what she wants. With just one exception-Caleb Drake, the one she foolishly let slip away. After a chance encounter brings Caleb back into her life, Olivia finds herself wanting a second chance with her first love, and asking herself how far she is willing to go to get him back. Her only problem is a red head named Leah, Caleb's new love. Olivia must fight for what was once hers, and in the process discover that sometimes love falls short of redemption.-Synopsis-
The moment I laid my eyes on the first page, I was hooked into their story full of lies, deceit, betrayal, and love. The author is an exceptional story teller and she has written this book in a unique way
"I am Olivia Kaspen, and if I love something I rip it from my life. Not intentionally... not unintentionally either."
Olivia has had a difficult life and has a lot of emotional trauma that stands in here way through out the book. In college she met Caleb and fell head over heels in love with him. She couldn’t admit it to him or herself and she did what she does best..she walked away.
3 years later we find Olivia running into Caleb at a music store. She is shocked to see how calm he is about running into her, and later finds out he has no idea who she is due to having amnesia. Olivia thinks this is her chance to get things back to how they were before and she is hoping he won’t remember how bad things had ended.
"After three long years, I have what I want and it isn't real. He doesn't know who I am, and if he did, he wouldn't be sitting in my living room... He doesn't remember me. How could you forget someone you loved even if I did rip his heart to shreds?"
But of course you can’t always get your way. Caleb has a life that he's built since she left and a girlfriend now too, Leah, who is determined not to lose the man she now loves. Can Olivia do what it takes to win Caleb back or will she be able to move on?
"You can only give your heart away once; after that, everything else will chase your first love."

Can a guilty conscience keep wounds from healing?
Fine arts major, Candace Parker, grew up with a mother who thinks image is everything, and her daughter’s perfection will never be good enough. About to graduate college and pursue her dreams of becoming a professional ballerina, Candace decides it’s time to let go and have a little fun. But fun is short-lived when a brutal attack leaves her completely shattered.
The memories that consume and torment Candace are starting to destroy her when she meets Ryan Campbell, a successful bar owner. He feels instantly connected and tries to show her that hope is worth fighting for. But is Ryan harboring his own demons? As walls slowly begin to chip away, the secrets that are held within start to become painful burdens.
At what point do secrets become lies?
I absolutely loved this book!!! It was amazing, gut wrenching, intense, powerful, heartbreaking....aahhhh the list could go on!! Thank you E.K. Blair for this great read!
"And though she be but little, she is fierce." - William Shakespeare
Candace, a college senior, has spent the last four years at the University of Washington working on her lifelong dream of becoming a ballerina. Her friends tell her she needs to get out and live life
"You take life too seriously, you know? You need to let loose and have some fun. You're never going to get this back Candace. Just enjoy it. Be young and carefree."
This is when things go horribly wrong...
She experiences a girls worst nightmare, she is raped and sexually abused. The pain and suffering she goes through is so heartbreaking. She struggles to get over and forget what happened to her that awful night.
"I lie against his chest and just cry. I cry like a baby-helpless. I'm so desperate for someone to save me. To make it all go away."
Ryan Campbell is a successful bar/club owner who is sweet ,caring, patient,...HOT, and everything Candace needs. With his own ugly past and issues, his pull to Candace is something he has never experienced before, he is sooo patient and supportive of her. He helps Candace come out of herself more and they fall deeply in love, she trusts him, depends on him and gives herself to him in a way she has never done with anyone else before, but when a secret is revealed it leaves Candace completely shattered.
"Pain is a reminder you're still alive."
This book is very sad and frustrating at times, but it captivates you. It moves slow and steady...it allows you to fall in love with the characters and feel their pain. This is the first of 3 books, BUT NO CLIFFHANGER!...book 2 is Ryan's story and I can't wait to read it! I WANT MORE of Ryan and Candace...I want to see their HEA!

"Imagine a world where one Commander can control an entire justice system based on......nothing. No trials, no innocents, only the accused. According to this Commander, all the accused are guilty of one of the seven sins, and sent to "the hole"
When I first saw this book I wasn't sure if I was gong to read it or not(It's not my usual type of reading material, or so I thought ;) I had the opportunity to read this when Abi gifted me a copy. Let me just say I am so glad she did. This book was AMAZING!!! I could not put it down and read it within a day.
Branded is the story of Lexi Hamilton in a dystopian society. In this society if you are accused of a sin (lust, greed, gluttony, wrath, pride, envy, sloth) than you are branded with the correlating color around you neck and are sentenced to spend your life in the "hole" Lexi is wrongfully accused of lust, but here it doesn't matter if you're guilty or not. Lexi's brand, mixed with her beauty make her the target to everyone.
"Never did I imagine they'd come got me. Never did I imagine all those nights I heard them dragging someone else away that I'd join them"
The Hole holds the sinners of the Seven Deadly Sins. They are branded for life and sentenced to live out that life within it's walls. It's a fight or die life, and no place for Lexi. She is issued a guard, Cole and destined to serve her life out as a nurse in the hospital. Lexi and Cole try to fight their attraction, but there's just no way around it! The ultimate sin is to love a sinner. The couple fight against all odds to be together, but the increasing violence within The Hole may keep them apart for good.
The conditions in the hole made me think of something that would have been seen during the holocaust in the concentration camps.
"I never planned on falling for you. You were just an assignment. But it just sort of happened and now look where I am. Stuck between two walls that won't budge either way. I'm trapped by you and my obligation as a guard"
I LOVED this book and would recommend it to anyone!!!! Abi and Missy are great writers and I can not wait for book #2!!!!
