Star Review - 5 Stars

"Imagine a world where one Commander can control an entire justice system based on......nothing. No trials, no innocents, only the accused. According to this Commander, all the accused are guilty of one of the seven sins, and sent to "the hole"

When I first saw this book I wasn't sure if I was gong to read it or not(It's not my usual type of reading material, or so I thought ;) I had the opportunity to read this when Abi gifted me a copy. Let me just say I am so glad she did. This book was AMAZING!!! I could not put it down and read it within a day.

Branded is the story of Lexi Hamilton in a dystopian society. In this society if you are accused of a sin (lust, greed, gluttony, wrath, pride, envy, sloth) than you are branded with the correlating color around you neck and are sentenced to spend your life in the "hole"  Lexi is wrongfully accused of lust, but here it doesn't matter if you're guilty or not. Lexi's brand, mixed with her beauty make her the target to everyone.

"Never did I imagine they'd come got me. Never did I imagine all those nights I              heard them dragging someone else away that I'd join them"

The Hole holds the sinners of the Seven Deadly Sins. They are branded for life and sentenced to live out that life within it's walls. It's a fight or die life, and no place for Lexi. She is issued a guard, Cole and destined to serve her life out as a nurse in the hospital. Lexi and Cole try to fight their attraction, but there's just no way around it! The ultimate sin is to love a sinner. The couple fight against all odds to be together, but the increasing violence within The Hole may keep them apart for good.
The conditions in the hole made me think of something that would have been seen during the holocaust in the concentration camps.

"I never planned on falling for you. You were just an assignment. But it just sort of                    happened and now look where I am. Stuck between two walls that won't budge either                way. I'm trapped by you and my obligation as a guard"

I LOVED this book and would recommend it to anyone!!!!  Abi and Missy are great writers and I can not wait for book #2!!!!
